Ins and Outs of Bra Sizes
Posted on October 06 2015
All women know the 'joy' of searching for the right sized bra. There are so many things to remember and keep track of. From cup size to band size and bra styles, there are many points to consider. To make things easier, here are a few things you need to do to find the bra size that will give the right support and fit for you:
Find your band size
This is one of the most important steps to ensuring you get the right size bra for your breasts. This is especially vial for plus sizes girls who have trouble finding the right plus sizes bras and lingerie for them. The first thing you need to do is to measure above the bust, level with your armpits, pulling the tape snugly so it fits as tightly as you would nee the bra band to fit. As you measure there may be some flesh puckering around the tape as you pull it tight. This is normal. If your measurement does not come out to an exact inch, round up to the nearest whole inch. This is your band size.
This measurement helps you determine your cup size. You need to know how big your breasts are. In order to do this, measure around your bust at the fullest part. Make sure you pull the tape over your breasts at this point and go over the nipples. For this measurement you do not want to pull the tape too tight and need a firm but comfortable fit over your breasts. Again, if you fall between inches on the measurements then round up to the next closest inch. This number will help you figure your bra size on size charts.
Find your cup size
To figure out what your cup size is and to ensure you get a full and accurate fitting, you will need to subtract the band measurement from the bust measurement. Once you have that, for every inch difference, move up one cup size. A difference of one inch would be an A cup, a difference of two inches is a B cup, and so on. For cup sizes that hit E size or bigger, different manufacturers can classify your bra differently. At My Bra Outlet, we provide full breakdowns for all of our bra sizes and fitting charts to help you find the perfect plus size bra.
With these steps in mind, you can ensure you always get a bra that looks and feels great, no matter your size!
